A Brush with Shades of Gray
A Brush with Shades of Gray | 6”x 9” | Oil on Panel
This value study is of a clay pot thrown by me back when I was in my 20’s and in college. The brushes have been well used in my paint work.
Painted by live observation, this work demonstrates the effects of light as it spills over the objects. Careful to get the darks dark enough, the lights light enough and the various shades of gray tones in correct relation to the darks and lights.
In terms of painting representational art, it is all too true that “color gets the credit, but value does the work”.
