Giving frilly shoes to a baby or a little girl is a delightful means of expressing love, and finding joy.
 
They strap them on and spin and twirl, play princess and pretend they are not such a little girl.
 
Then girls grow up, they put on heels, now it’s with boys they want to dance, to spin, to reel.

I enjoy the strength of contrast between the dark values and the naturallight in this little painting. One nice touch is the bit of reflected color inside each shoe.
