Henry 44's

Henry 44's

Henry 44’s | 12”x 6” | Oil on Canvas

These rim-fire cartridges were produced for the great, American-made, Henry Repeating Rifle.

This particular box with all 50 cartridges intact, was found during the demolition of a home, when the wall plaster was being torn away. The box was sitting on a cross brace between two wall studs.

The collector value of the box at the time I was painting this in 2016 was $7,000. The owner allowed me to borrow them as reference for the painting. We also see a portion of a black cowboy hat.

See also the painting: Yellow Boy, Winchester 66.
