Lady Liberty Star
Lady Liberty Star | 11”x 14” | Pastel on Wallis Paper
As a puppy our Lady-dog started her life with us on a delightful July afternoon. Lady was our oldest boy’s dog. She was a sweet natured, beautiful Dalmatian who stole all our hearts.
It was years later when this son was in his early twenties and moving-on, that our “surprise” new little daughter Emma just naturally became best friends with, and the constant companion of Lady.
The two of them played in the back yard, and while still quite small our Emma, with her feet and legs out of her ‘onesies’, would toddle across the lawn, pick tomatoes from the garden and share them with Lady.
By the time Emma was six years of age, Lady was quite old and passed away. It was a hard time for all of us, especially Emma. Several months later when she was still crying at times for her Lady-dog, I told her I would paint her a painting of Lady. This is that painting.
