Painters are meant to do self portraits I suppose, this is my 2nd. I did this painting at home while attending The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. In the background is my painting Onions and Kerr. This is appropriate given that it was in doing this and 5 other onion paintings here in this same room, that I labored to paint a true sense of atmosphere among the elements in my paintings.
 
This success was largely dependent upon the proper rendering of lessons learned regarding values, edges, reflected light, and texture.
 
The onion paintings were a pivotal point in my progression as an artist and have had a significant impact on my skills as a representational painter.
