This little darling is the shyest young person I have ever painted, I don’t believe she spoke one word to me. Her mother understood the value of having portrait paintings of loved ones. This painting is the result of her desire.

The doll had belonged to the girls grandmother, was handed down, and I believe will be handed down again.
 
In this portrait we see the affect of natural light coming through an unseen window, warming the girls delicate skin as well as her doll and dress. The background offers only subtle hints of a humble, loving home.
